Poetic Responses to Psalms and Scripture

I thank you, Lord, with all my heart,

you have heard the words of my mouth.

On the day I called you answered;

you increased the strength of my soul.

                             Ps. 138:1a,3

I sent my daughter to school

without her raincoat,

again!

She'll canter home soaking wet.

I'll strain my wrist

yanking tangles from her hair.

If I bother my friends

it's no wonder,

ranting about these

and a hundred other worries.

But I can't phone them now.

My cell went dead last week

after I dropped it in a puddle.

My tongue flails

like a fire hose blasting water

with no one to hold it.

Still, today, I feel better.

The sun shines, proud of itself.

The sky beams.

Dry.
