Presider: Lift up our hearts to the Lord. In the Lord we trust
and have our hope. Let us offer God our needs, our anxieties, our struggles.
For we hope in God’s presence and assistance.
Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”
1.That we pray... that Pope Francis, our Bishop Luis, catechists, clergy,
and religious with courage and endurance bring the revelation of God’s love
for us in convincing and practical ways, we pray...
2. That this Sunday we hear with open ears and eager hearts the immensity of
God’s love for us individually and as community. May the Spirit guide us in
our prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we wait for the celebration of the
birth of Jesus, we pray...
3. That during this Advent we purge our spirits of violence, hatred,
vengeance, and temptations to ignore the Lord, we pray...
4. That we will make room in our hearts and minds by cleaning our vision, by
sweeping from daily life the habits that hide the Lord. That we may free our
lives of excessive possessions, donating them to those in need. That the
room made in our hearts are filled with God’s abiding love, we pray...
5. That wars among nations, feuds among families, distrust, malicious
gossip, and violence we harbor in our lives are conquered by the acceptance
of God’s love for us, we pray...
6. That politicians and their staffs are purified of lust for power, wealth,
and fame by the love of God revealed in the Incarnation of the Word, we
pray...
7. That all baptized members of our parish, and those preparing to join our
community will attend and participate in our liturgies in these weeks of
Advent, we pray...
8. That those who died this past week (list them here) and those who will
die this week are welcomed into the heavenly kingdom. That the intention of
this Mass, (list here) __________ is (are) remembered in our prayers at this
Mass and during this week, we pray...
9. Let us in silence add our personal intentions to these community prayers:
(pause) Let us place these requests on the altar with our gifts to the
community, we pray...
Presider: Almighty and ever living God,
awaken our hearts, direct our minds to apply in our personal lives the

Readings encourage our fasting, our prayers, and almsgiving. we pray... you,
O God, will be near and strengthen us as we prepare for the coming of the
Light of the World. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who
lives and reigns with you and the Holy
