 General Intercessions

Twenty Fifth Sunday of Ordered Time

September 21, 2025

Presider: The Father’s love for us and creation that is our home, and our sustenance is evident in the Incarnation of his Son. With confidence in the Father’s love, we offer our concerns and petitions.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, Hear our prayer”

1.That Pope Leo and Bishop _____ respond to the crises in our church and diocese and the world with gospel values, we pray...

2. That our parish community members use their wealth, power, and education to benefit those on the margins and in poverty, we pray...

3. That elected leaders and representatives work for the common good, knowing that poverty is a blot on communities and nations, we pray...

4. That Christians take to heart the instruction of the Lord to care for widows, orphans and the alien who resides in our midst, we pray...

5. That parents form their children in understanding the values of the gospel as more valuable than the promises of the world’s values, we pray...

6. That statespersons, diplomats, economists, and human services personnel focus on the welfare of all persons so that everyone may live a life of flourishing in their chosen professions, we pray...

7. That military personnel are trained in defense of people on the margins of society and provide safety and aid to non-combatants, we pray...

8. That teachers in the primary grades are attentive to children who require more attention so they can gain what may have been lacking in their toddler and childhood years, we pray...

9. That vulnerable adults and children suffering in abusive relationships have the courage to find shelter and support to live productive, peaceful, and fulfilling lives, we pray...

10. That those who died this week (list here) and those approaching death’s door are encouraged by faith and sacrament. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _____is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray...

11. We petition God for our personal needs and for help resolving concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts offered for ministries in our community, we pray...

Presider: Father, Creator and Sustainer of all that is and all who are, look with favor on our prayers for the poor, the marginalized, the persecuted. Direct our hearts to the welfare of the forgotten, the abused, and manipulated people. We ask this  in the name of your Son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit now and forever.

Response: Amen.
