General Intercessions
Presentation of the Lord
February 2, 2025
Presider: We live in tumultuous times. Our God is God of light and
peace. With confidence, let us offer our communal prayers and concerns to
the Lord, seeking God’s guidance.
Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “O God, Lead Us To Your
Light.”
1. That Pope Francis, Bishop _______, clergy,
religious, lay leadership, and catechists discover in the Scriptures the
strength and wisdom to create a pathway to peace and for building
communities of faith, we pray...
2. That the Celebration of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple bring
us the joy experienced by Simeon and Anna. May we share in that joy by
realizing the fulfillment of God’s plan in our lives, we pray...,
3. That the writings of Luke, the Physician and Evangelist, bring
inspiration and healing to the sick and mentally and emotionally challenged
of our parish, we pray...
4. That our nation rejects violence, unfounded gossip, and discrimination by
race, by gender, by national origin, and by wealth or poverty, we pray...
5. That those who care for others; clergy, religious, educators, first
responders, military, and healers treat those they service with patience,
with professional care, and realize they are Christ’s presence to those they
serve, we pray....
6. That parents practice patience with their children. That parents secure
adequate rest and income to sustain their families with food, shelter,
health care, and education, we pray...
7. That political operatives accept the common good of all as the highest
value in their work, we pray...
8. That those who died this past week and those dying this week are welcomed
into the heavenly kingdom by Jesus, our brother. That the intention of this
Mass, (list here) _________ is (are) remembered in our prayers at this Mass
and during this week, we pray...
9. Let us add our personal intentions in silence: (pause) Let us place these
intentions on the altar with our gifts to the community, we pray...
Presider: May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. As
we remember the Presentation of Jesus and his welcoming by Simeon and Anna
may we discover the presence of God in those we encounter. To you Our God,
eternally blessed, be glory and praise forever.
Response: Amen.
