General Intercessions

Second Sunday of Advent
December 8, 2024
Presider: The Lord is close at hand. Let us prepare our hearts and minds to receive the Lord. With longing for the coming of God’s kingdom, let us offer our prayer to the Father.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, hear our prayer.”

1.That the Spirit of God inspire Pope Francis, Bishop Luis, Clergy, Religious, and Lay leaders to effectively lead our parish to welcoming God’s abiding presence in their daily lives, we pray...

2. That the hearts of the People of God are directed to the warmth and safety of the homeless in this season of preparation, we pray...

3. That EMS, Police Officers, Military personnel, Doctors, Nurses, Medical Technicians, and Mental Health Providers be encouraged in their profession and conduct their practices with compassion and mercy, we pray...

4. That persons joined by marriage vows strive to increase their love for one another and be an example to neighbors of love and care, we pray...

5. That persons who serve in public assistance, in administration roles in government carry out their duties with integrity and respect for the common good, we pray...

6. That educators create lesson plans with integrity, seeking to encourage their students to pursue truth in science, in history, and in human relationships, we pray...

7. That statesmen and diplomats committee to peace at home and abroad and to the flourishing of all persons without concern for political advantage, the pursuit of wealth, or fame, we pray...

8. That those who died this past week (list them here) and those who die this week are welcomed into the heavenly kingdom. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) __________ is (are) remembered in our prayers at this Mass and during this week, we pray...

9. We now add our personal intentions: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with our gifts to the community, we pray...

Presider: God of power and mercy, open our hearts in welcome to those we meet. Remove whatever hinders us from receiving Christ with joy. We long to share his wisdom and become one with him now and when he comes in glory. For he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Response: Amen.
