Each week Dennis Keller is posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies. He is a lay Dominican from the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. He also provides weekly input for our feature Volume II. General Intercessions Solemnity of Apostles Peter and Paul June 29 2025
Presider: God built the foundations of the Church on the prophets and the Apostles. Their efforts to spread the good news of the Christ had profound effect. We too are apostles of the Good News. As we offer our concerns and needs to the Lord, let us imitate the courage and energy of these apostles.
Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Lord, Hear our prayer”
1.Lord, bless Pope Leo and bishops, successors of the Apostles, so they focus on the Joy of the Gospel in this season of Hope in every nation and place, we pray
2. Lord, that members of the Body of Christ understand the joy of the Gospel as they practice solidarity with all they meet, we pray
3. Lord, assist us striving to as we strive to practice the Gospel of liberation especially to those on the margins of society without resources or support to quality of life, we pray
4. Lord, bring liberation to those abused, suffering violence, or trafficking. Bless them with support from our parish that they may come to realize their dignity and worth, we pray
5. Lord, provide from among us, apostles to those suffering from mental or physical illness. Assist us in working with the incarcerated to grow their skills and character to reenter society, we pray
6. Lord, be attentive to the prayers of children as they long for educational opportunities, for adequate health care, decent housing, and appropriate clothing. Inspire our work for necessary nourishment for growth into flourishing adulthood, we pray
7. Lord, send the Spirit of peace to warring nations. Encourage our politicians. Diplomats, and each of us to seek peace, we pray
8. That those who died this week (list here) and those approaching death’s door are encouraged by faith and sacrament. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) _____is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray
9. Let us petition God for our personal needs and for help resolving concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts we offer for the ministries of our parish community, we pray
Presider: Lord, Jesus Christ, we worship you living among us in the sacrament of your body and blood. Help us offer our Father a solemn pledge of undivided love. May we give our brothers and sisters a life poured out in loving service of that kingdom where you live with the Father and the Holy Spirit, forever. Response: Amen.
