Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

CELEBRANT: Let us pray for the needs of all through Christ Jesus who intercedes before God on our behalf.

READER: Our response today is: “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That the Church Universal and we in this local Church may generously share the material and spiritual resources with which we are blessed, trusting the Lord God to provide for all our needs and in the spirit of holy stewardship, we pray...

2.  That the divine Spirit of wisdom may fall abundantly upon our national leaders as they wrestle with so many international and national challenges, we pray...

3.  That soon and very soon the light may overcome the darkness for the battered people of Haiti and those ravaged by Ethiopia’s civil war, we pray...

4.  That all those elected to political office in these days may serve us---with malice towards none, with charity for all, and with the common good their only pursuit, we pray...

5.  That we may reverence our veterans, and all the men and women serving in our nation’s military, and justly provide for their needs, we pray...

6.  That the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends may know the comfort of love and the healing touch of our God, (especially __________), we pray...

7.  That the sorrowing may be lifted up in hope by Easter’s promise; and, our deceased veterans, and all our beloved dead come to rest eternally in the everlasting embrace of God’s love and peace, we pray...

8.  We pause to express, in the silence of our hearts, our personal intentions -

(PAUSE)

That our God may receive with a special kindness those unspoken concerns, we pray...

CELEBRANT: God of grace and mercy, listen to the prayer of your people.  As we seek to love and serve you, gift us with generosity of heart.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
