Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

CELEBRANT: Jesus went throughout Galilee proclaiming the Gospel and curing every disease and illness among the people.  In His name, we pray for those who search for healing and wholeness.

READER: Please respond, “LORD, HEAR OUR PRAYER!”

1.  That our Church and all Christian churches may come together in unity, peace, and reconciliation as the one body of the Christ, we pray...

2.  That all who are overshadowed by the violence of war, especially in Ukraine, may soon and very soon see the joyful dawning of peace, we pray...

3.  That we who have been baptized in water and sealed with the Spirit may do all we can to foster a respect for life in all its stages and for the planet, which is our common home, we pray...

4.  That a just, compassionate, and bipartisan immigration policy may become law in these United States sooner rather than later, we pray...

5.  That the children of our faith formation programs may grow daily in faith, hope, and love, strengthened for the journey by the faith witness we adults provide them, we

pray...

6.  That those whom Jesus calls to be fishers of people as priests and religious may respond, as the first disciples did, immediately and generously, we pray...

7.  That safety may accompany our service men and women, and our First Responders; and the seriously ill in our community and among our family members and friends feel the comfort of love and the healing touch of our God, (especially ____________,) we pray...

8.  That the sorrowing may be rescued from the darkness by the light of Easter hope; and, ______________ (and) all our beloved dead be forever welcomed into God’s loving and peace-filled embrace, we pray...

CELEBRANT:  Gracious and loving God, you light the way for a world that lives in darkness.  Help us to be bearers of that light to our times, make us faithful disciples of your Son, and attend to our prayer, voiced in the name of the One who calls us by name, Christ Jesus, who is Lord forever and ever.
