Each week we are posting General Intercessions for the upcoming Sunday liturgies by Msgr. Joseph Masiello, retired pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Westfield, NJ.  These intercessions are based on the assigned scriptures, the liturgical season and current events.

SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD

January 1, 2023

CELEBRANT: Urged on by the Spirit placed in our hearts, and with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, at our side, let us call upon God with the trust of sons and daughters.

READER: Please respond, “LET YOUR PEACE REIGN.”

1.  On the leaders of your Church and on your holy people, that, in this New Year, all may walk together the paths of faith, trust, reconciliation, and justice, we pray...

2.  On the leaders of the nations, that they may in the New Year search with urgency for peaceful solutions to the world’s tensions, we pray...

3.  On all afflicted or threatened by the horror of war, especially in Ukraine, Russia, and on the African continent, we pray...

4.  On all our service men and women far from home this New Year’s Day and on our First Responders, we pray...

5.  On refugees and migrants, we pray...

6.  On all in this new year who strive to draw daily strength from calling on God in prayer, we pray...

7.  On those who may be considering a vocation to the priesthood and the religious life, we pray...

8.  On our faith community, and on our seriously ill, (especially __________,) we pray...

9.  On all who sorrow in these special days, and on ___________(and) all our beloved dead, we pray...

CELEBRANT: Praised and blessed be you, God of peace and love.  Hear these prayers which we raise up to you in the name that is above every other, the name of Jesus, Son of God, and Son of Mary, who is Lord forever and ever.
